Penny for a Pee Sir?  Franklin Footlight Theatre presents Urinetown the Musical March 6th-14th

Franklin NH-

Franklin Footlight Theatre will present the Tony Award winning show, Urinetown the Musical March 6-14th at the Franklin Opera House located in the Franklin City Hall at 316 Central Street.  Show nights are March 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14 at 7:30pm with a matinee Saturday March 7th at 2pm.

Jason Roy of Andover directs Footlight's production of Urinetown, which features performers Christie Martin and Liz Patria - both of whose stunning and powerful performances are of the vocal quality you will be unlikely to hear anywhere north of New York City.  Viewers will also be mesmorized by the intense dance choreography as designed by performer and choreographer Jennifer Simpson of Bridgewater.

Urinetown the Musical was nominated for 10 Tony Awards in 2002, and ultimately won for Best Director, Best Original Score, and Best Book for a Musical.  The show takes a satyrical look at capitalism and takes time out to poke fun at several well-known Broadway show favorites.  You are sure to be reminded of music and numbers from legendary shows such as Les Miserables and West Side Story.

Footlight Theatre and the Franklin Opera House conducted a Penny Drive in February in relation to the show.  Pennies were needed as props in the show and both organizations would like to thank the many community members who donated pennies to be used in the production.  Once the show run is over proceeds from the penny drive will go to support the Jule C. Finley Scholarship Fund.  As part of a continuing promotional theme for the show patrons are welcome to bring their pennies to the Footlight merchandise table to donate to the Finley Scholarship fund (please DO NOT bring pennies to pay for tickets or merchandise!).

Franklin Opera House is located in the Franklin City Hall at 316 Central Street. Parking is free on the street and behind the Franklin Opera House. Donors may enter the building at the side door handicap access on Memorial Street.
