Meredith, NH

The Streetcar Company of Laconia, NH will present a musical mystery theatre production of the Tony Award winning Broadway musical "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" as written, scored, and lyricized by Rupert Holmes (of the "Pina Colada song" fame). "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" is the title of the last, and unfinished, work of Charles Dickens - author of timeless classics such as "A Christmas Carol" and "A Tale of Two Cities" as licensed by Tams-Witmark Musical Library of New York. (www.tamswitmark.com).

Sadly Dickens died before he was able to complete the story, and he left no notes whatsoever as to who the villain actually is, or who the detective is, or who the lovers are.  Rupert Holmes seized on this ambiguity and crafted a musical play based on what work had been completed by Dickens in order to create a unique theatrical experience for both the players and the audience. Audiences will have the opportunity to help form the ending of the play, and as a result participate in completing the work of the true English literature master.

Rick Morten (recent directing credits include The Laramie Project, Scrooge) directs The Streetcar Company cast including the lovely and talented Lesley Pankhurst as the title character (Drood).  The Streetcar Company's production also features the choreography of Erin Lovett Sherman and musical direction of Christine Chaisson.  Other featured performers include locals Bo Guyer (The Chairman), Johan Andersen (The Reverend Crisparkle), Lynn Dadian (The Princess Puffer), Michael Baker (Durdles), Ray Feola (Deputy), Ben Kace (Neville Landless), Vanessa Alfonso (Helena Landless), Nerrishia Bodwell (Rosa Bud), Barry Livingstone (Bazzard), Rick Morten (John Jasper), Peter Ayer (Nicholas Michael), Melissa Bigler (Judith Beckett), Carolyn Desrosiers (Mary Fletcher), Erin Fitzmaurice (Abigail Gray), Jennifer Hughes (Florence Gill), Joanne Morin (Gwendolen Pynn), Megan Pettis (Nora Cannon), Patte Sarausky (Emma Drummond), Angela Humphrey (Isabel Yearsley), Oriana Filiault (Violet Balfour), Erin Lovett-Sherman (Ruth Evens), and Larry Thompson (Montague Pruit).

Show dates will run from October 21-23 at the Community Auditorium at Inter-Lakes High School in Meredith NH, with show times to be announced.  Tickets ($12 adult, $10 seniors or 4 for $35) will be available at the door and at Greenlaw's Music Store in Laconia and the Innisfree Bookshop in Meredith. For more information about the show (including sponsorship opportunities or other ways to participate), contact producer Peter Brunette at 603-393-7875.
